Twenty-second Lotus - blooming twice

[There are a lot of spots on the page where his pen has rested as he tries to figure out what to write and how. Then his familiar handwriting starts.]

I do not know how to apologize since I still do not know what happened but I am sorry and I am back! And I would like to see everyone who wants to see me.

[There's more pen resting.]

I have a brother now! It is not worth dying over. But now I have one, and I wanted one. So that is good at least.

I think that I need to figure out how to alter the direction of my kick in mid-air. Does anyone have suggestions?

[She takes a step or two towards him. He looks like Youth, and sounds like Youth. He is Youth.

Her voice comes out very soft as usual, but just loud enough that he'll be able to hear it. If a cat doesn't walk by or something.]

I'm not hungry or thirsty.

The sock monster is fine. [She remembers something.] Its name is Shizuko Socks now.

[Youth didn't believe in awkward moments, so he tried to keep them from happening. She's quiet and hard to hear, but he can hear her dismiss the food and drink offer, which means the focus is on her reason for the visit, him.]

Can I give you a hug? I do not know if you hug much, but it might make you feel better, and me too.

[A hug? A sign of affection. 00 has seen people hugging before, but she has never experienced it that she remembers.

I think it is glad to have a name. [As far as she can interpret the emotional reactions of a googly-eyed cloth thing.]

[At the nod and verbal response, Youth steps forward and wraps his arms around her in a tight hug. He gives it a few moments, figuring she doesn't know much about hugs if what he knows is anything to go by. Youth releases her but stands near in case she wanted more of a hug.]

Good! It makes sense that it would be! Are you feeling a little more better?

[00 basically... stands there as Youth hugs her. But it's warm. Comforting. It's reassuring. She isn't sure how to define it in words. There's a warmth inside her that seems to match the physical warmth of the hug. The feeling of affection.

But she likes it. She isn't smiling, but her face looks content, somehow.]

Yes.

[It makes it feel more real, that he truly is alive. It is strange to think that he was dead--that seems distant now.]

[He's not great at reading people. Youth's not even good at reading people. But there's enough of a change that he thinks maybe the hug did some good. Then again, he's always believed that hugs do good.]

[Now he's not sure what to say or do. She doesn't talk a lot, but he'd known that fromt their first meeting.]

[She won't ask for another hug, most likely. She's still processing what the first one felt like.

It's a nice feeling, even if she's unsure how to express it--it's so unfamiliar. Youth seems to have enough sociability for both of them, though.]

I have been fit.

[00's not purposefully aloof, so it's different than what he's used to struggling through. Bell's distance is intentional. She seems to not know how to connect.]

Fitness is good! It is very important to stay in shape! I will need to start running laps again promptly to make sure I have not lost any of my speed.

What are you doing to stay fit?

[That is... exactly it, really.]

I walk often. I eat healthy foods.

[But there's... more, something else.]

But I do not know of a place here to swim. Do you run daily?

[Youth nods.]

I run every morning! Several laps by myself, then some with Fred, and then more when I'm on patrol at night! And you can swim with Bernard. She likes company. You will just need to be ready to be hugged. Often.
