I have a brother now! It is not worth dying over. But now I have one, and I wanted one. So that is good at least.

I think that I need to figure out how to alter the direction of my kick in mid-air. Does anyone have suggestions?

Try kicking with your right leg, twisting your hips as if you were going to side kick them and follow around with the left. That'll course correct you in mid air. Do the opposite for the other leg.
